Rainbow Rangers Last Game

WHICH WAS ARE WE GOING?
The NUMBER one question that a coach asks during a 4 and 5 year old's soccer game!
The kids had a very fun season. I did too...but honestly, I am not sorry to see the season end.
Don't get me wrong...I liked coaching...and I LOVED the games...and all of the kids more than grew on me....
But, the Y shouldn't give one coach (or two when my co-coach was actually there) 10 four year olds. It is too many. I know it is to account for subs, but...it is too many to handle in a sane manner.

It was our last game today.
The kids played well and had a good game!
Makylie rocked it as usual. :) I may be a tad biased...

I'm not sure how the other coach is feeling about those skills she is showing off with.

After the game we had our little party!
We brought the kids doughnuts, and fresh fruit, and juice.
Even muffins for the parents.

I passed out the trophies and pictures.
For most every child on the team, it was their very first trophy. Mine have them, so I forgot that it would be such a huge deal to some of the kids.
They were so excited!

A Two Wheeled kind of Day...

Today...

For our athletically inclined, just-turned, 5 year old...

The TRAINING WHEELS CAME OFF!

And she did GREAT!

I Can not believe that she is getting so big.

She rode short distances, but with confidence.

And was SO proud!
She studied the concrete...and the bumps carefully...and trusted her daddy fully!

Tyler was so proud of her! He stayed with her the entire time!

He was full of congratulations and cheers!

What a beautiful, two-wheeled-kind-of-a-day!

A natural!

Today, two wheels....tomorrow, Kindergarten!

I keep asking her to stop growing....but she just laughs.

Is it really that much to ask?

I just want to put her in my back pocket and shield her from this big world,

and yet I also want to watch her grow, and flourish, and become amazing!

Just like she already is.

AMAZING!

A Day at the Beach

Today,
Makylie's preschool class went to the beach for their spring field trip.
It was COLD, and rainy. It poured on us all of the way there, and as we were waiting for everyone to show up, we all huddled under their small picnic area to stay dry.

Then...
before it started...the skies just OPENED up.
It was still cold, and wet, but we had BLUE SKIES for the whole tour!

We got to look for shells...and creatures.
We got to move around stations where the marine biologists showed the kids different kind of sea life. The really coold thing, was that all of them were form our shore. NONE were brought in for display.
Some were even hands on.

Maky loved the sea stars! They had found almost every color to show the kids.

The kids listened very carefully...and had a really fun time. They touched what they could, and were careful, and they asked questions.


These little crabs, of course, were a huge hit!


They searched for driftwood, and looked for shells, and got to come and show them to the biologist. They loved having the freedom to roam around and search.

Makylie's very favorite part of the day was looking for wishing rocks. They are black rocks that have a white line all of the way around them. The idea of wishing rocks goes WAY back! The kids all got to search for them, and then pick one to take home!
She looked and looked, and found SO many. Then she picked her favorite for her, and brought one home for Tyler too.

Finally, the biologists showed the kids different kinds of seaweed.
All different kinds and colors.
Then the kids went and searched for others from the beach that matched the examples.


All in all, it was a really fun trip.
Very wet and cold, but the kids had a blast, and I was VERY appreciative for the blue skies!
Makylie learned a lot and has talked about it ever since.
It was a really fun field trip and a fun day with my baby!

A Little Indoor...

Look at this cute little Rainbow Ranger!

She is SUCH a GOOD soccer player. I am so excited to see how she grows and how she improves. She has so much skill for a little thing. :)

And she looks so cute as she flies down the court!

Our team is doing really well. They are learning a lot and have greatly improved.
Several of the kids have real talent, which is already obvious.
Now,
If I could get them to reign in their energy at practice, so I could teach them even more...instead of simply chasing them around and wiping sweat from my brow. :)

A Pajama Party....

It was a day,
filled with pink,
giggles,
pajamas,
and pig tails!
With a couple spring break vacations, and a couple sick kids...we ended up with 5 kids.
I was worried, but it really was nice.

As the kids got there, we decorated bookmarks...simple bookmarks with stickers.
They had fun doing a few of those each.

Second, we moved on to decorating pillow cases with fabric markers...afterall, it was a pretend sleepover.

Third we PLAYED PLAYDOH!
Oh they LOVED having a full, long table of cookie cutters and tools, and playdoh!

Once we were done with all of the hands-on things, we painted each of their nails, in the colors of their choosing with quick drying polish. Each and every little girl LOVED this part so much. If I had known, how good they were going to be through the painting and drying, I would have done toes too.
For 10-15 minutes while the polish was drying, the kids watched Mickey Mouse.

Then we opened presents. All of the girls, were so excited to see Makylie open her gifts...they each sat with her while she opened their individual gifts, and I took pictures. I always include these with the thank you cards.

Then we moved on to cake and snacks!
Once the kids were all done, they got to go downstairs and play. This is the part they were ALL so excited about. Seriously, at this age, you don't really need to do a party with planned activities. They just want to play! They played together until the parents got there!
Makylie had an amazing day!
It was exactly what she wanted!
For me, that is ALL that matters!
I love you baby girl!
